Trump says MoU "over" as Khamenei funeral procession continues

The US military attacked Iran early Wednesday after it said Tehran struck three ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Americans also revoked the Islamic Republic's ability to openly sell crude oil.

Iran then warned Washington it would

"take whatever measures it deems necessary"

raising the risk of the interim agreement in the war

to halt fighting, could breakdown. This would put the Middle East

at risk of a wider conflict.

US President Donald Trump says the memorandum of understanding

signed with Iran to end the conflict was over,

adding he didn't want to engage in further peace talks with Tehran.

The US military's Central Command said American forces

launched strikes to impose heavy costs on Iran for targeting and attacking

commercial shipping crewed by innocent civilians in an international waterway.

This as sirens sounded in Kuwait Wednesday as the country's air defences

engaged to intercept incoming fire from Iran,

after the United States airstrikes targeted Iranian facilities.

Bahrain too said it faced incoming missiles Wednesday morning.

There was no confirmation whether anything had been struck in either country.

Bahrain and Kuwait previously have been targeted by Iranian attacks,

shaking the interim deal struck between Iran and

the US to end the war.

Meanwhile in Iraq, a plane carrying the coffin of Iran's

late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and others landed in Najaf Tuesday night.

Crowds surrounded the truck carrying the coffin from the plane,

some throwing scarves and other items for attendants to brush against the coffin,

a common practice in Iran and Iraq seen as a blessing.

Mourners are then seen carrying the coffin.

An official ceremony Tuesday night was attended by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi,

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

with various other officials.

On Wednesday, a procession for the late supreme leader began

in Najaf, one of the two holy Shiite cities.

Large crowds attended waving flags and holding pictures of Khamenei.

Processions are also planned for Karbala, the other holy Shiite city in Iraq.

Khamenei's body will then be returned to Iran to be buried Thursday

at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashad, his birthplace.
